Obama’s Wall of Silence

By AFN

tehran-protestsA disturbing picture has taken shape since Obama’s speech to the Muslim world from Cairo University.  It is a picture of a man who has a historically inaccurate and morally-relativistic view of the world.  For most men an inaccurate view of history simply makes them uninformed, but for a president, an inaccurate view of the world makes him extremely dangerous.

In this case, moral relativism and historical inaccuracy have produced an American president who cannot condemn murder on the part of Islamic regimes.  Let’s take a look at some of Obama’s own words.

Obama’s Distorted Reality

According to Mark Alexander, writing for PatriotPost.US, “Last fall, Obama campaigned on a promise to mollify our Islamic foes and ‘re-set’ the terms of understanding between American democracy and Middle Eastern tyranny — to great applause from his legions of mesmerized peacenik sycophants.  In January, Obama recommitted to making peace with Islam, saying, “I have Muslim members of my family. I have lived in Muslim countries.”

When Obama says he has Muslim family members and has lived in Muslim countries, he’s saying more than just “I have something in common with you.”  He’s saying that not only does he feel he has much in common with the Muslim world, but that he understands exactly where they’re coming from and exactly why they feel so aggrieved.  But to understand why the Muslim world feels aggrieved takes a good dose of historical misunderstanding and moral relativism.

One bizarre misunderstanding Obama has of reality is his belief that America is one of the largest Muslim countries on earth!  On June 2, Obama said, “…one of the points I want to make is, is that if you actually took the number of Muslims Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.”

That is an alarming perception of reality.  Here is the reality.  There are 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide.  There are 200 million in Indonesia, 165 million in Pakistan and dozens of other countries have tens of millions more.  The United States has fewer than 3 million Muslims.

Obviously, Obama is told by his Leftist handlers that the U.S. is one of the largest Muslim nations in the world, but apparently he does not have the intellectual vigor to figure out that this simply couldn’t be true.  He even grew up in Indonesia!  He must have a gut sense that Indonesia has far more Muslims than the United States does – to the tune of about 197 million more.

Mark Alexander says “Obama’s ‘ignorance’ of Muslim demographics is appalling.  Yet he has the audacity to say, ‘We have to educate ourselves more effectively on Islam.’”

Obama’s Distorted Morality

First, Obama said in his Cairo speech, “Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.” Oh really!?  Where?  In only a morally relativistic view could one believe that Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance.  There may have been brief periods of tolerance in the Muslim world, but it’s certainly nothing anyone with a strong moral compass would call a “proud tradition.”

In keeping with his moral relativism as it concerns the Muslim world, Obama has been completely silent during the Tehran uprisings which are occurring now in the aftermath of the Iranian elections last week.  He has not expressed American support for freedom and democracy to take hold in Iran. And most alarmingly, he has not expressed his shock and outrage for the way the Mullahs are cracking down and murdering Iranian citizens.

In considering what kind of moral view Obama has that allows him to condone these murders by his silence, one must look to his past statements and actions.

After the recent murder of abortionist Dr. George Tiller (a murder that no one condones), Obama rightly issued an official statement of “shock and outrage”.  He also rightly (in our view) had his Attorney General dispatch U.S. Marshals to protect other abortion doctors around the nation.

However, Obama is not sending U.S. Marshals to protect U.S. synagogues after last month’s arrest of four Islamists who planned to bomb New York synagogues. And Obama has not expressed any “shock and outrage” about the murders the Iranian regime is currently committing in an effort to save their regime from the will of the people.

And most disturbingly as the PatriotPost.US points out, “Obama made it clear that he was not going to lift a finger for the courageous throngs in the streets – and that he was keen to engage the junta, no matter how vicious its behavior. ‘We will continue,” he said, ‘to pursue a tough, direct dialogue between our two countries.’  He repeated yesterday that he does not like to see “violence directed at peaceful protesters,” but that it would not be ‘productive” for the president of the United States ‘to be seen as meddling” in Iranian affairs.’”

Obama’s cowardly silence will lead to more death.
