If Bush didn’t do anything about the nuclear bombs going off, and missiles being shot while he was president, do you really think Obama is going to start a war with DPRK? His missiles have been utter failures, lest you forget, and where is getting this technology anyway? Really, this is not a tough riddle to solve. His people are starving, he has suffered a stroke, he needs to show that his still has power and shooting off missiles is his last ditch saber rattling. Also, we already have two wars going on, lets finish those first.

Please, lets not fall into this trap again. The BEST case scenario for Kim Jong-il is for us to give him a reason to use the largest standing army to restart the war with South Korea. He will, like all tyrants, fall.

Chavez will fall when the oil bubble he is riding bursts. We will see how his socialist policies hold up when we, yes we, stop buying his countries oil. Boycott Citgo, Please.

Speak softly and carry a big stick. I agree with Teddy Roosevelt on this one. Listen, America needs a reason to go to war. Now more than ever, that reason cannot be “they may be trying to get nuclear arms.” That worked for Iraq… You must have heard Bush and his saying: fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice, well, ya know, there won’t be a third time.

Finally, you all are thinking in terms of honor ethics. Case in point: “If you meet someone in the alley that is mentally unstable and wants to kick the %^&* out of you, will being nice and negotiate workâ€¦..NOT you match the unsub with a bigger weapon and only than will he back down.” Kim Jong-Il is not mentally unstable. Nor is Ahmadinejad. You don’t help a country liberalize, or Democratize (which is the ultimate goal here, right guys? right? Beat the commies?) by giving their nationalist leaders more ammunition against us! I mean, the Iranian president still uses the Shah as a reason not to trust us, Chavez can look at many many US interventions in Central and South America and not trust us, and, well, we have 20,000 troops on standby on the 44 parallel… Its these kinds of bone headed warmongering that really get us in trouble, not diplomacy.

Isis, this should be really simple to understand. If he’s not going to use the missiles, why is he so intent on making them? That’s pretty simple, right!? And as anti-lib pointed out – notice the photo where N Korea is crushing a missile with “US” written on it. I included that photo on purpose… because that clearly shows that their intent is very hostile towards the US and the West.

I know it’s unpleasant to contemplate the reality that someone in the world might actually have bad intentions towards good people… but you then have to ask why are they pursuing such deadly weapons with such persistence?

Uh Okay.Wow. You just go on not believing then. Which is why he’s building missiles that have the range to do so? Is that why Japan is getting scared about these tests? I am not hysterical,I’m a realist. The only reason this guy wants nukes is to use them. And yes, I know we’re the only nation to have actually used them. Know why nobody has since? Because those nations(including the Soviets)that had them saw how destructive they were. Kim Jong-il doesn’t care. Neither does Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. What other reason would these guys have for trying to get nukes when most other nations are scaling back their programs? There’s a reason Japan will never ask us to leave even if they want us to,’cause as soon as we do,China and North maybe even South Korea,and any other Asian nation(with the capability)they invaded during WWII is gonna be looking for payback. My God Isis,I really do wish the world worked the way you think it does,and that you were right and Kim(you must have a big heart).It doesn’t though and you’re not.

Diplomacy isn’t being always being nice,it’s war by other means. What is there to understand about Kim Jong-il? He’s a Tyrant who rules with an iron fist,living high on the hog while the North Korean people suffer,and live in fear of what he’ll do next. Did you not read what I wrote about bullies? How would diplomacy have worked with the Taliban? How did it work in the previous Twelve years with Hussain? In the Clinton years all that was used was diplomacy and where did that get us? World Trade Center Bombing in ‘93 The attack on the U.S.S. Cole in 2000 just to name a few incidents. In cases like North Korea all diplomacy is good for is giving both sides time to position troops and pick targets. You can’t use diplomacy with Jong-il. Yes,there are times when a diplomatic solution is possible and should be attempted,but this isn’t one of them. As soon as he can,Jong-il will launch those nuclear missiles at “US”,or Japan and talking to him won’t change that.

I think we need to give diplomacy a chance. We haven’t used any in the last 8 years and it led to nothing but war! I don’t see how being nice to somebody and trying to understand them can make things any worse.

That’s because when dealing with people like Jon-il and Chavez an open hand “IS” a weak one. These people are bullies,and you don’t stop a bully with flowery words,hell you can’t even use threats. The only way is to knock their d!%k in the dirt,and stomp on their sack. As a guy who has a slight case of Cerebral Palsy had to deal with bullies,I know what I’m talking about.
