UK Bans Cross-Shaped Medal – as Offensive to Muslims

By AFN

The London Daily Mail

A medal established by the Queen is being withdrawn after it was declared unlawful and offensive to Muslims and Hindus.

The cross-shaped honour – The Trinity Cross of the Order of Trinity – has been handed to distinguished members of the former colony of Trinidad and Tobago.  The Christian name and cross are now being replaced with the Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago – a circular medal featuring a sun, stars, water and a map of the islands. The Privy Council, made up of 12 law lords, ruled the merit decoration was unlawful because it discriminates against non-Christians.

Now other honours are being reviewed over their references to Christian Saints or symbols….

The Maha Sabha, the Hindu organisation, and the Islamic Relief Centre Ltd have been fighting to get a new non-religious order of merit since 2004.

Some ask what is so important about symbols that we should worry about them.  But if symbols aren’t important why are Muslims and Hindus fighting so hard to have Christian ones removed?

This is a question of fairness – this is not about pushing religion on anyone.  Symbols like these aren’t used to force religion on anyone, they are used symbolize and represent the dominant historical traditions of the country where they are used.  England is steeped in Christian history… not Islamic history.  In Islamic countries, Islamic symbols are used and Christian symbols are completely banned.  So why aren’t Christian symbols allowed in countries with Christian histories?  And why don’t you ever see Christians in Islamic countries demanding that Islamic symbols be stopped?

The real concern here is how much are Western societies going to bend to the demands of Islam?  Do they consider Islamic traditions superior to their own?  Do they believe that dropping Christian symbols and traditions and taking on Islamic ones, will lead to a brighter future for humanity?  And if so, on what do they base these beliefs.  What historical evidence is there for them?

Those who are concerned that we may go too far have legitimate grounds for worry based on court actions like this one.

The High Court in Trinidad and Tobago ruled the decoration discriminated against non-Christians but said it did not have the power to invalidate the royal order.

Judge Jamadar said: ‘The Trinity Cross – the nation’s highest award – is strictly a Christian symbol, and as a result, it discriminates in a multi-religious society.’…

This is not about Hindus. This is about the UK constantly catering to Islam with no regard for anyone else there. Non-Muslims are oppressed across the Islamic world and respect is supposed to be a two-way street. Since Islam gives none, that is what it deserves back. Stop catering to Muslims, they do not reciprocate.

Great comment Christopher. And I would just add that not only do they not reciprocate, but giving into them makes them hungry for even more. When you give in and give them an inch it doesn’t sate them, it makes them even more hungry.
